Re: Trouble in Casting Paradise
...Perhaps doing it this way but with wax rods would have helped. I guess I'll try that out, but look at the clean up that I would have to do if indeed it turned out. :o I am going to give it a rest for now and to see if I can come up with a better way. The amount of resources, time, and effort I've...

Re: Trouble in Casting Paradise
It didn't come out again. I used a 38/100 ratio with Plasticast, Mark's recommended prep and burnout schedule. The only difference is that I used yellow resin. This piece is a tough cookie. I had better luck spruing it the other way. What I don't understand is why are there voids in the model that t...

Re: Turn off Windows Updates
Yes sir! This happened to me. I got a nice big flat rectangle instead of what was suppose to be a pendant. Thanks Microsoft!

Re: Rings, X or Y?
Thanks for that! I've been doing the other way for so long. I had a question though. Sometimes when I print with yellow, some of my pieces get stretched....circles become....oval :GASP!!: Is there a way to avoid that? I mean, I know yellow is sticky, but.....Could it be the x and y placement? Maybe ...

Re: Trouble in Casting Paradise
I'm used regular ultra vest. It held up pretty well so far.....just not with this piece. I'm planning on buying Plasticast today and investing it in that. I sprued it up different as well.....as this point, I'm willing to try just about anything.

Re: My first yellow resin cast
That is a clean cast! What's your procedure? Setup? I use yellow too and I have used green. The green is nice to look at but I seem to get better results with the yellow. I appreciate you posting.

Re: Trouble in Casting Paradise
Well my peoples.....I had a mis-cast. Here are the pictures. As you can see, one of the lead sprues to the piece is incomplete. I am guessing I didn't heat my metal enough, although when it came out of the flask it was black as all get out. Side story, the first time I casted in 14ky, I heated it wa...

Re: Trouble in Casting Paradise
I appreciate everyone's help! I'll send pictures of my findings and procedures this week. Although, I want to try it with the yellow and see if there is a difference. I am sure it will be useful for anyone thinking of using yellow in the future. I'll probably end up buying plasticast, but I do want ...

Re: Trouble in Casting Paradise
I appreciate the advice. I'll try curing it over night and adding time to the burnout and report back.

Re: Trouble in Casting Paradise
You get good results with heavy pieces with green? Cool! Gotta try that. Yes, I am using a centifugal. I've gotten better and better results due to the advice of Mark and many others on this forum(Thank you all!!!). I bought Ultravest because it was suppose to have a smoother texture.....::sigh:: I ...
