I will be posting some basic support structure tutorials here. Anyone is welcome to contribute to this section. Hopefully this will help some people who are new to 3d printing and properly supporting 3d models. In my experience, the majority of failures (more than 95%) can be attributed to how the model was supported or lack of supports.

Re: Basic Support Structures Tutorials
Hey guys! I was wondering if someone can do a tutorial on filigree. I have a graveyard of red failure and me being a newbie, I thought I'd ask for some help.....also, I have printed a few halo rings with overhangs and have place robust supports underneath and well the halo's bottom has peeled and sometimes the supports break off as well.
What am I doing wrong?

Re: Basic Support Structures Tutorials
I've been having fun with a filigree also.
I would say your supports at the halo need to be a little bigger and out at the edge of the halo. Put supports in each angle change. also might help. So instead of three on each side, have five. That's what I would do.

I built this yesterday and it came out with some sagging on the round stone seats and a distorted. How should I support something like this? I attached a jpeg file. Thanks

If you email me the model, I can support it for you, send you the model, and post an image of the supported model in here.

I'm also using the new resin "SolusProto" at 42 microns.
