Build arm tilting

Postby Waever » Sat Sep 16, 2017 4:30 pm

Hi Guys

I've been using my Solus for almost 2 years.
During this last print i notice something.
I print a Padme Blaster and orient it straight facing up.
It comes out distored. Even before remove the support i can see it's not straight

So i look at my build arm and it tilt inward
I check the build arm and it pretty much straight, so i look at the plate where the build arm attach to.
The Plate is concave.

Any idea how to fix this?
Should i use hammer and anvil?
LOL...

Hard to tell from that picture. Cause it looks like the whole printer is tilted. You glass top looks bowed. Best to get a square from quartz to the platform. If you calibrated the build plate, it should compensate for any slight angle. Re-Calibrate and do a test cube. Also that thin barrel should have some support. I would lay it sideways or angle it so the whole thing has support.

There is no way the 8mm tempered glass is bowed
Already did Recalibration and it doesn't work. Even the cube comes out not straight
Like i said. The build arm is tilted.
Look at the black panel where the orange acrylic casing attach to. Then pull a paralel line to the build arm. The more it goes up, the wider the gap

I guess it's just the angle you took picture. That is strange.

Yes it's pretty hard to take picture that really show the build arm tilted.
But i am dead sure and have other people here check and confirm it's tilted. Probably after almost 2 years, the build arm has taken it's toll.

I meant the build arm is straight. But plate underneath it that's concaved and probably cause the build arm tilted.
So i suspect the culprit is the plate.

I hope Mark have the spare part. LOL...

Hi,

Can you rotate the blaster 90 degrees and try to print it? I want to see if it distorts in the same direction.

So i did test cube, here it is

Then i print again the blaster and turn 90degrees.
And it shows the same tilt angle paralel to the build arm

Here's close up of the build arm. Not sure if it clearly shown in this pic that the plate underneath is concave. That is where the build arm attach to right? So i think this is the cause of build arm tilting.

And here i check the build platform not moving straight up from the quartz

Well no wonder i keep on having thick shifting lines facing the Y axis which paralel to the build arm. The test cube also Shows thick shifting lines on Y axis face

Well it's almost 2 years of usage. No longer warranty. I guess i have to pay for the plate. Because i'm not sure i can repair it with hammer and anvil...
Please tell me it's not expensive...LOL
