It is what holds the quartz top on. Another reason to have a fan or your printer in a ventilated area. Heat from projector can loosen the adhesive. Plus shorten bulb life.
Turbo mode
Hi all.
Before using turbo mode, I tried another print with the vat a couple turns tighter than on the first result-print didn't stick to the build plate.
After that I tried the turbo mode for the SolusCast and the results look much better. I didn't notice that the last posted result was skewing as much in side view as it was until I did this print. It's vertical and symmetrical now. The increased layer height(image 1) is more noticeable but overall, the result is smoother.
1 issue I have, and have had on most of my previous prints is the jagged base(highlighted in picture 1). I'm wondering if I may have build plate calibrated too tight? Maybe partly the cause for previous failures? It tends to be pretty soft and rubbing after the print is finished(before wash and uv cure) it tends to come off in tiny little pieces. Not sure if it could be breaking off during print and causing issues...
In image 4, there is a slight waviness on the bottom facing plane. On the flip side(image 5), its hardly noticeable.
So, does this result help diagnose the previous result?

Make sure the film is really tight for Turbo mode.

How about for the jagged base layer? Does that look like over compression?

Re: Sample files for print?
Slight compression is needed, but that's nothing to worry about.

Re: Sample files for print?
Thanks. I did another print of the ring with some new film and it was the best.
Then I went and printed this scan.....twice.
First time, print failed at ears and gash on chin. I focused on the failure at the ears and added more supports for a 2nd try....1 side came out ok, the other failed again, but now it looks like the support touch points caused the main failure(maybe even the first time). Usually, because I've had this happen a lot in the past, I max out the touch point and support thickness size in contour on the b9 cherry and just clean everything in wax. I didn't this time because after looking at everyone elses results+Solus resin, it seemed what I've been doing is probably overcompensating for some failure elsewhere and I'd really like to stop doing any waxwork altogether. I've sent the file to info@junction in case Monger can take a look at it. OTL

Re: Sample files for print?
I'm assuming you didn't hollow it and it was already hollowed? Usually we recommend no thicker than 1mm walls for large prints like this.
Try manually putting thicker supports on the bottom. Change the support thickness slider under Automatic Supports to 1.5 and then go manual supports and change the tip size to 0.6 and manually put those supports along the bottom rim.

Re: Sample files for print?
I hollowed it out myself. I always assumed thicker= less flex. I'll try it out suggestions. Thank you.
