Shifting layers at top of finger rail

Postby Messerbr » Fri Apr 06, 2018 7:15 pm

So this seems to be a recurring problem that seems to come and go. I havent quite dialed in exactly what is causing it. I have re-calibrated everything, reinstalled the film, cleaned/regreased the z screw, leveled the table, put in fresh resin, and I am still having the layers shift around. I have also tried adding more supports but get the same thing. Anyone run into this issue before or know what might be causing this?

I dont understand how it prints flawlessly up until that point, squirms around, and then prints flawlessly again for the rest of the model.

I'm open to any and all suggestions on what to try next. Maybe exposure settings?

Does it always happen at the same height no matter what you print? Try printing a cylinder of the same height as that ring to see if still happens. If not, then post a photo of how the rings are oriented on the build plate. Do you add supports on the inside for those undersides?

I usually do the auto-support and then add in a few more supports to the undersides. Attached images are how these two were supported when the layers shifted. It usually happens around the same height (not exactly on layer 880 for example) but at least a 3-5mm section around that height.

Can you try rotating the ring 90 degrees along the Z and printing it?

I recommend applying some grease to the lead screw around the backlash nut. Above it and below, to see if that helps. Also, you can print a cylinder the same height as the ring to see if you get the lines in the same exact levels.

I have been re-apply a little grease every other print to the Z screw. Attached is an image showing where I have been putting grease. Is this the spot you are talking about?

Yes. Those spots.

Do you get these lines on most of your prints, or only these particular models? If you get them on all of them, then we recommend sending the machine in for diagnostics, maintenance and repair if needed. Please email info@junction3d.com for details.
