Quartz Detached from Printer

Postby Shogun » Sat Jul 27, 2019 7:42 pm

Hey all,

I went to set up a print today and noticed that the Quartz piece was slightly detached from the printer - it had slid about 5mm to one side. I have no idea how this happened - I genuinely take car of the printer. I slid the Quartz piece back to center, the glue/adhesive was slightly gummy so with a little force I was able to slide it back. I'm running a test print right now to see if it's still functional.

But my question is: If this print fails (or even if it is successful), is there a recommended method to avoid this from happening again? Can I remove the Quartz piece, clean it, apply some adhesive, and reattach it?

Thanks!
David

Hey,

Just as an update, the print I ran was successful (Thankfully! - It was a very important print).

Do you have ventilation blowing the heat away from the printer? If not, the heat build up will cause the your problem.

I have an overhead ceiling fan that I turn on while printing. I haven't used a small fan blowing directly, and in close proximity, to the printer in order to avoid unnecessary dust/hair/etc flowing into the printer, onto the window, or onto the projector lens. That being said, if the separation was caused by heat build-up, am I able to clean the Quartz entirely and apply new adhesive to it?

Thanks for the reply!

Greatly appreciated! I'll pick up some 3mm tape for the fix.

I araldited mine back on and have zero regrets... During an overnight print the glass managed to pinch the film and in the morning I found the VAT empty with a puddle of resin around the base of the printer.. It was a massive pain in the ass disassembling the printer to clean the resin out
