Adjusting Gamma, Contrast, and Brightness

Postby 3dLuke » Tue Feb 02, 2016 1:25 am

Just fired up the Printer and I have been having some problems. I searched on the forum and got an idea of what my problem may have been. My first two prints was just one big rectangle. I realized that my black was not to black. I double checked my settings and I did followed the calibration specs from the instructions exactly. I tweaked the Gamma, contrast, and brightness by just guessing what would look good. Right now it seems to be printing fine. My main questions is that am I at risk of damaging my printer by changing those settings?

Luke did you follow the instructions exactly? Did you adjust the projector settings? Did you adjust the full rgb for the Graphics card?

You can do a quick test to determine if your have the rgb problem.

Put a piece of paper on top of the quartz window and look at the background projection. Then unplug the HDMI cable from the projector. If the background projection gets dimmer, then you need to do the FULL RGB correction (per the instructions). If it remains the same and doesn't get dimmer, then you're good.

Thanks for the tip. The background remained the same after unplugging the HDMI from the projector. I ran a print and it did seem to come out OK. The surface seems a little choppy. Got a whole new problem now. I just when to try and duplicate the process and run it again and the printer is stuck after Homing. Yes the build plate and Vat is removed. $x does not respond.

Twist the z drive screw by hand to raise up the platform. This usually happens if you tighten the vat too tight and the tilt gets stuck. power off and back on.

You need to turn off the printer from the back first. Press the reset button next to the usb port. Then by hand twist the z screw gently and move the arm up a little.

Exit CW and go back in, connect and home again. Let us know if that works. If you hear some sort of buzzing when the arm goes down and you get no response when trying to move it up with +10, contact me at info@junction3d.com and I'll help you diagnose it.

Thank you guys for the quick reply, I really appreciate it. I just pressed the reset on the back of the machine and restarted CW without adjusting the Z screw. It now responds to the manual z controls and homing is worked out fine. Perhaps its a communication problem with the COM port. It seems as if the COM port drops out?

I am running a model right now. It seems to be working good. One more quick question. At the end of the "lift" one each layer their is a faint knock sound. Is that normal?

Yes, that sound is normal. Solus is quiet, but not whisper quiet ;)
