Starting/Finishing/Pausing a print

Postby Kevin » Tue Feb 16, 2016 9:00 pm

Got my first print off the machine and it looks great! I've just got some basic questions I'm hoping you can help with.

Do I need to physically turn the projector on before each build? Or should it be set up to automatically come on when I press play?

When the printer is finished do I need to be there to immediately put the shutter in front of the lens? I was hoping to print some stuff before leaving for the day but isn't that going to cook my resin?

If I stop a print is there a way to start where I left off or do I just need to start over?

Thanks

You need to turn on the projector before each build.

You don't need to put the shutter in-front of the lens immediately, but it won't hurt to do it as soon as possible.

You can have the projector automatically shut off after each print by using the supplied rs-323 cable. Here are the instructions on how to use it. https://www.dropbox.com/s/89otg3lqra0xi ... n.pdf?dl=0

If you press STOP, then the job is done. You can't continue where you left off. Pressing PLAY will damage your printer. So you need to move the arm up, and remove the print, clean it, the clean the tank and then start a new job.

I've switched from Cherry to Emerald resin and now my projector won't automatically shut off.

I also just realized I never changed my machine profile under configure slicing profile.
hmm, I've gotten a few good builds so far...

Make sure the Enable Serial checkbox is checked. Also make sure your projector is DISPLAY2. If it's DISPLAY2, then need to update the g-code.

You mean you printed using the cherry profile? That's fine. They are very similar.

Yes,
I sliced with the emerald (in the pop-up after pressing slice in 3D view), but the slicing profile was still set to Cherry. I didn't realize I had to change it.

Enable Serial checkbox is checked. The projector is Dispaly1 and I did change the GCode. It was working fine until I changed the slicing to Emerald. I'm restarting CW and starting over maybe that will help.

Each profile has it's own gcode. Need to change your display number for Emerald also. :)

Is it possible to pause a print, manually move the build plate up to inspect the parts and then continue somehow. I'm assuming I have to manually move the build plate back down to exactly where it was (?). Or would the 'unpause' button do that for me?

Unfortunately, you cannot pause prints. Once you press stop (when it's not projecting), you're essentially cancelling the print. Move the arm up, remove the prints and clean up and start a new print.

If you don't remove the print and press play again, you can seriously damage the machine.

Exactly how is this supposed to look?
;<DispCmd>DISPLAY1, Off

Am I supposed to remove the remark at the beginning like:
<DispCmd>DISPLAY1, Off

Or like this:
DispCmd>DISPLAY1, Off
