Cant seem to get rid of these hard lines.

Postby Messerbr » Thu Apr 27, 2017 2:43 pm

Had a few runs with things coming out great, but I'm getting some hard indentions at the same height. Does this look like the Z screw is sticking or the film causing this?

Hi Ben,

Please try putting some grease on the z-screw and the plastic nut and run the arm up and down about 10 times. If that doesn't help, you may need to remove the backlash nut screws, move the arm all the way up, remove the top bar, and actually remove the entire arm with the bearings. Then put grease inside the bearings.

I've noticed this issue as well, so nice to know how it may be resolved.

What sort of grease should we use? Just standard machine tool grease?

Standard machine grease or white lithium grease.

Regreased the screw and still have this issue. do you have a video or infographics on taking that part off to add grease to it?

Are you talking about the grow lines on the sides of the ring?

Those lines in the last photo that run perpendicular to the build plate seem very unusual.

The moire effect in the second photo is a function of the XY resolution, the Z step size and the near perpendicular surface. Those are roughly one or two pixel shifts in direction over the length of the surface plane.

Almost looks like the table was bumped or something.

Do you get the lines on the same levels?

Also make sure the film is not tight in the vat. If it is, and you have large slice area printing, then it will stick more to the film and not peel smoothly, causing lines like that.

I had a very similar problem recently. It was solved by raising the front leg of the projector, thus moving the projection window more centrally on the quartz, rather than at the font. This was on 28x47, by the way.

Pretty sure the table wasn't bumped and I dont think the film is too tight. It seems like the layer consistently skips at these heights of the print. (3 prints with this error in the same spot now) Up until that height the print looks perfect with normal grow lines.
