Part of print is shiny?

Postby drewbacca » Wed Oct 18, 2017 2:08 pm

Well this has been happening more with the solus cast resin than other resins. I'm not sure what the cause of this shiny region but it looks shiny when it comes out of the printer. It looks shiny after 3 cycles of my UV curing box, so its not sticky to touch and is cured as is.

Are you sure it was cleaned well in alcohol?

Was the resin stirred up real good? Looks like the pigment separated from the resin.

That’s not possible. There is no pigment to separate for the SolusCast resin.

The resin was not stirred, two day old resin in the tank that I make sure to cover with a black tarp before leaving the office. I do 2-3 cycles of water ultrasonic with fresh water in each case. I've shifted away from the water/soap ultrasonic and alcohol ultrasonic about 6 months ago, but this shiny thing is happening a lot with the solus cast.

Could it be my bulb? Would you guys think increasing exposure time could help?

Now I am thinking I cant tell when it comes out of the printer, since it is covered in liquid resin that gives it a shine. I think the culprit may be my heated ultrasonic. I've set the temp to 80 deg C, I will turn that down and see if that helps.
