42 micron XY setting on the Solus.

Postby mongerdesigns » Sat Sep 26, 2015 12:44 am

While the Solus prints incredible details at the 25 XY resolution setting, the 42 micron XY resolution setting is not exactly low resolution either.

Check out how many of these relatively wide/large rings we can print in the larger build area. 9 rings vs 3 rings at the 25 micron XY setting.

I have a hard time seeing any of the resolution loss. The micro prongs and all the details look super sharp. The rings have excellent surface quality and smoothness.

The print took 2 hours and 40 minutes at 42 micron XY and 30 micron Z resolution.

how does the 42xy compare to the form labs? i know the higher res setting blows the form 1 and 2 away but is it still better than the form 1 at 42xy? and if so, by how much? also, i dont see many people using 42, since im in the process of just setting up my machine and since im not doing jewlery, im thinking id like to probably just set it up at 42 but not if i will be experiencing a lot more print failures...based on what im reading, it seems that failures are more likely at 42, is this true?
