Infocus projector bulbs.

Well, my INfocus projector bulb bit the dust. It exploded. I was printing over night and the print failed. Noticed the blinking blue light and the steady red one. Looked it up and it said probably bulb failure. Shut it off made sure it wasnt hot, pulled the bulb cartridge. Yep shards of glass started dropping off. I went to the INfocus website and the replacement at this time is $225.00. Ouch. So I disassembled the bulb carriage and the bulb is an Osram --P-VIP 240/.08 E20.8 . Quick search on the internet and they are available all over the place. Ebay has them as cheap as $17.00 from China. Closer to $50 if you order one in the US. Amazon has a 3rd party link but I had already found that supplier. I ordered a couple original manufacturer bulbs rather than the compatable ones. You have to make sure that all the numbers match, There are a lot of close variations out there. If your smart enough that you can use a screw driver to remove the lid to replace the bulb cartridge you can disassemble the cartridge no problem. Its sheet metal screwed to a plate for a housing cover and a couple small metal tabs screwed down to hold the bulb in place. I left the bulb in the housing wired until the new ones get here and I can do a quick swap out. I dont know if there is a polarity issue with the bulb but why find out. I should be back up and running in a couple of days and I will have a spare in case it happens again. IF you do this yourself make sure you dont touch the glass with your fingers etc.
