Hardware recommendations

We're looking to get a new desktop to run the printer. I'd like to know specifically which video card(s) we should consider, and other hardware recommendations. Price is not a major concern.

For a desktop, any of the new nvidia cards should work well.

Nothing to extreme unless you're looking to do CAD on it as well. Keep in mind the monitor you're going to use. If your monitor is HDMI, then you need two HDMI ports on the card. At least one HDMI card is needed for the projector.

I found a few cards for under $100 even.

Which nvidia models will support anti-aliasing at 4?

That has nothing to do with nvidia.

I've never had any issue with antialiasing at 4. That might be a not enough memory issue.

Just ordered a Solus here. I was thinking of hooking it up to our CAD PC, but I have seen quite a few people talking about purchasing a laptop solely to run the Solus. Can I be creating pieces with Matrix/Zbrush while the projector and printer are running or would this cause problems for CW and the Solus? PC is an i7-4820k 32g RAM with a geforce gtx 770

That would cause problems. If you don't have a dedicated PC/laptop, then you can use your main PC to print, but you should leave it alone while its printing.

I don't recommend using the computer for anything else while printing.

A Solus is on my shopping list but I'm looking around for driver hardware while I wait.

Reading through here I gather that I don't need anything hi spec. Win7 is probably better than Win10 and my graphics card needs to be 1080P/HDMI.

The hardware will ONLY be used to run the Solus.

So is buying an old desktop for $100 a smart or dumb move? Welcome the collective wisdom of the solusphere!
