Fresh out of the box I could not get my projector focused on the wall as per the instructions. From 10 feet to 10 inches it just doesn't focus.

So I figured I'd carry on with the installation of everything regardless. At the projection calibration this is how the grid looks.

Is it possible my projector is bad? I've held it and slowly walked toward the wall and it's uniformly out of focus.

Are you focusing with just the focus ring? You need to also fine focus be turning the lens as well.

Also put the orange shutter over the paper to focus. Try to use a thinner paper like tracing paper with the correct focus rectangle size printed on it.
