Windows 10

Postby Joetrfj » Fri Mar 04, 2016 7:29 pm

Hi

I was wandering if anyone has experience or has removed windows 10 from their PC. I have been having massive problems with windows 10 and want to downgrade to windows 7

I have a Windows 7 install disc and the laptop I bought had windows 10 already on it so I can't just roll back via the settings menu, just before anyone suggests that :D

I need to remove Win10, insert win7 install disc and install win7. The internet has tons of advice about rolling back to 7 or 8.1 if you got the free upgrade but nothing on removing windows 10 and clean installing win7

Depends on your hardware. Windows 10 partitions and boot partition methods are different than for windows 8 or 7. You may need to delete all the partitions, reformat the drive and then install windows 7.

Emil

I have the same laptop as you do. The only difference is I have an i3 processor not an i7 I believe.

So your saying I need remove all the system partitions then format the boot drive effectively rendering the computer empty of any system file. So that when I restart the PC I should just be able to boot from ROM and install windows 7?

I'd like to find a fix for this because I honestly believe windows 10 is no good for CW/Infocus or the Solus. Thanks for your help

Joe,

I believe that's what needs to be done, but make sure first. I think there is a recovery partition in there somewhere they you may need to leave in tact just in case. You can try just booting from the cd and taking it from there.

I'm not having to much trouble with Win 10. My main problem is auto update keeps turning back on. I have gone through and turned off most everything of Win 10 in settings. Contra especially and all the privacy setting to No or Off. Make sure you power setting are set to never go Idle, sleep, or screensaver.
