Love The New Software!

Postby jdwages » Wed Jul 13, 2016 9:24 pm

Wow the new software is such a big improvement over CW! Makes my job so much easier. That being said I have had issues with a really big file I am printing, it has become unresponsive, a restart gets it back up and going. Really glad I don't have to use CW for this job. I was curious if anyone else has had this issues? Like I said though it is a really big file my PC has been slow converting it to an stl even. What are the odds of adding a support builder in the program? I am using RPtool primarily now but I have seen a couple of times where I missed something and would be nice to have a builder where I could add a missed support. THANKS!

Why is the file so large? How large?

The supports builder is coming soon. We are working on it.

You might try to reduce the Mesh. This will cut down on file size.

I just opened a 380 MB model and I could move/rotate/scale it with no issues. Slicing took 20 seconds. But I'm running an i7 with 8GB RAM.

Same here windows 7 64 bit desktop Nivida vid card 8 gigs of ram. I have had some issues with the motherboard (MSI x58m) on this pc. I have had a couple of other times when after slicing the program becomes unresponsive and have had to close and reopen and start again. Is there anything I might look for if this happens again? I have had no problems opening and moving the files around and being able to view the slices is GREAT! Thanks

A note to all. How old is your computer if using a desktop? When was the last time you opened it up and blew out all the dust from Motherboard, power supply. You will be amazed how better it will run. All that dust cause heat to build up quick and it can't move it. Also make sure memory and plugs are tight. Things get loose and cause problems.

You get that every time? Its possible your com port or projector wasn't initialized properly at that time, or the connection was lost for some reason (loose USB cable?) Make sure the projector is turned on for a min before you run Contour.
