DWS Resin

Postby nikhiljogia » Thu Jul 21, 2016 6:55 am

I'm trying to get the DWS 550 resin to print with the Solus printer. I first tried using the standard Emerald settings, but with a 30 micron layer thickness as this is what I print with our DWS printer. Print didn't go too well and all the negative spaces were filled and mild flashing. My next attempt was to lower the exposure time to 800ms which has come out a lot better:

There's still flashing between the bezels but the rest is good. Any one know what settings I should adjust now?

You may need to put the UV filter back in. Then start again at a higher exposure and adjust from there.

That is is very fast curing resin. We don't have any Solus users in Australia using the UV Filter in their projectors.

I would suggest before you try using the UV filter, that you try lowering the exposure from 800ms (0.8 sec) to 700ms (0.7 sec).
You'd be surprised how much difference 0.1 sec can make :-)

It's going to be a bit of a pain switching between UV filter installed/removed, unless you are intending to do most of your printing with the DSW resin.
Monger is suggesting you can slow down the cure speed, by putting the UV filter back into the printer.
Obviously if you leave it installed it will lengthen your curing time for all resins and slow down your print speeds.

I have never liked the Dws 550 .it does not cast well with satin investment . you would be way better using the cherry or the Emerald.

I try this morning.
With my Vivitech 1188 and solus in 27/48, uv filter out, exposure 550 ms, lamp mode: Eco, brightness 40%.
It's a beat over cured, and "skin" down the VAT...
Low details, poor quality...
Another one to test?
