Yay,
I got my Solus 3d printer set up and ready to go, but..... I had not ordered b9 emerald resin.
Excited and ready to start printing I said what the heck, I will put the Formlabs castable and see how it goes.
Used settings for b9 emerald for the ring and it was over exposed, "That only means that the exposure time is much shorter."
Long story short, 2.7 seconds to 1.0 seconds exposure time, that is fast. I think It is till a little over exposed, but we are talking about splitting hairs.
When I get b9 emerald I will compare it.

Pictures I have seen of B9 emerald are great (I cant wait to print with b9 emerald) and faster results from Formlabs castable are also great.
I feel that it comes down to what one wants, cheaper resin or faster higher price resin.
Good choices for everyone!!!

The model is made to set 1mm round diamonds on the side.

Wow Evert. That looks pretty clean! Glad to know the formlabs resin works too. Try lowering the exposure a bit. Especially the bottom layers.

What layer thickness is that? 25 microns?

Yes, 25 microns layers, very smooth like the b9 emerald pictures I have seen.

I thought Formlabs resin would take longer to cure the layers, 1 second curing time is awesome and
it still can be brought down to maybe .8 seconds I feel.

Formlabs resin is more expensive and in the long run you extend the life of the bulb.

Wow, very nice! What was your total print time on that ring? Any idea if all the Formlabs resins should print on the Solus?

The total print time was 48 minutes.

Being that one has control over exposure times with the Solus, I believe all Formlabs resins should print.

You might want to angle you prints a little. It seems to give a smoother finish. Worth a try.

Prints look good. Can you let us know how the formlab resin does with casting vs emerald when you get that?

Yay,

So far so good with Formlabs castable resin.
I brought down the exposure time to .8 second and this is the result.

I am beginning to like Formlabs resin with the Solus because of how fast it cures.
If you want faster printing results (like me) it is worth $100.00 more per liter.

I would try 0.5s exposure and still lower that bottom exposure a bit. If the resin has low viscosity, you can bump up the Z Lift speed to 150 and lower the Z lift distance to 2. That will make things even faster.

Let us know how it works out ;)
