Recently, I've been having an issue of Emerald resin prints cracking/fracturing, when curing in the microwave.
My current post cure procedure is to cure in nail uv chamber, under water, generally over night. Then to microwave on half power for three cycles of 4 minutes, changing for fresh water between each cycle.
Has anyone else experienced this?
I'm wondering if I'm over curing them in the light?
I am cleaning resins in IPA, if this is relevant...
Emerald prints cracking in microwave
Re: Emerald prints cracking in microwave
Three cycles of 4 minutes might be too long. I UV cure in water for ~2 hours and then microwave for three cycles of 2:30.
Re: Emerald prints cracking in microwave
Messerb is correct only 2:30-3:00 min max for three cycles. The higher the power on the micro wave the less time. I am using 1000w output max.
Re: Emerald prints cracking in microwave
Thanks for the feedback. I'll reduce my curing time in the microwave.
Re: Emerald prints cracking in microwave
I do 2 30 3 times at 70% power
Re: Emerald prints cracking in microwave
that use to happen to me too with the green, is that what your using , but I no longer microwave , try annealing , put in oven overnight at 150 f , then in cure box one hour ea. side , then tree up and cast
use this box , those nail one arent as good and can catch fire

Re: Emerald prints cracking in microwave
Thanks for the link to the light. Are you using the 20 or 50 watt model?
And I assume when you put the models in the oven, you immerse them in water?

Re: Emerald prints cracking in microwave
no water in oven , leave the supports on them , remove them when you cure , in water when you cure , and yes I use the 20

Re: Emerald prints cracking in microwave
Personally I didn't see any curing improvement with the microwave. The pieces don't get any hard or crisp. The color doesn't change as a result of curing. I use only light curing and I have great results. just my 2 cents

I also quit curing in the microwave, just using the smaller b9 curing unit , never more than 10 minutes of cure time.
Casting are good without micro.
