Archerm is dead right on this. The oil curing can be tricky, especially with heavy pieces. I have stopped with the oil and gone to uv light only... I have a cheap 36watt uv nail type unit, i put the models in water in a little plastic see through cup (it's the bottom half of a rubber wheel container) let sit for 2 hours on each side. I mix the investment up around 6-7 at night, oven turns on at midnight. Use archerms burnout schedule with plasticast 39 to 100. Centrifugal cast at 10 am.

I've been getting pretty good results. This is 14k X-1 alloy

Hi Bob,

What kind of casting machine do you use? Can you please recommend me a mini casting machine?

Thank you

Looks flawless. Great job!
I agree. Solus is the best choice in 3d printing for casting.

Sorry it's been a while since posting....had my focus on working at the shop AND construction contracting my new home.
A bit busy ,))

I vacuum invest and use a broken arm centrifugal that bought used 34 years ago. I have a programmable kiln I bought from Rio Grande 5-6 yrs ago that uses the Sentry programming system---built in.

Yes, all temps Fahrenheit.

LISTEN TO MARK. DO WHAT HE SAYS. DON'T TRY TO REINVENT THE WHEEL.
There are steps to follow, time to wait. It's like cooking-- follow the receipe and it will come out!

Best of luck everyone!!

Just Bob wrote:Emil asked me to post about my experience casting the emerald green resin. Truthfully I have struggled for a few months trying to get this down. I spoke with Mark Miller---MY HERO!-
Gave me some Direction and told me what he did to have the great success that he has.

My procedure varies just a little bit from Mark-- but he's the one who put me on this. Publicly - thank you so much Mark!

Obviously my two problems were curing and wait time. Was getting some really crappy castings

Emil told me about this wonderful little UV curing nail dryer

https://www.amazon.com/MelodySusie-Pro6 ... 012MMYEZ0/

It works exceptionally well the only drawback I see is that the maximum time of any curing cycle is 60 seconds and for me I keep it next to my workbench and just tap it and do about ten Cycles so total of 10 minutes curing.

Mark told me about using distilled water in the microwave for 3 cycles of 2 minutes 40 seconds each letting it cool in between

38/100 plastic cast investment. And Mark mentioned - it's extremely important to let the flask bench cure for at least 6 hours without the cap on

On my oven controller is set in the ramp time to full - which I assume means that it goes as fast as it can to the desired temperature. My desired temperature is 800 degrees and I hold for an hour and a half. I let it fast ramp up to 1400 for three and a half hours. And then my casting temperature is 700 degrees.

Here's a casting from this morning. About to put it in the tumbler now

Bob
I was wondering if I could ask what your resin cleaning procedure is? I was told to do 3 Alcohol washes then soapy water in the ultrasonic before starting the cure.
