Hi guys,
I'm not an expert on casting but have a problem with one of my models. I've attached a picture of my RP model and a wax injection from a rubbermold, the top one is the original model. We first make a silicone mold straight from the RP model then make a master to make a rubbermold, but want to know if the distortion is normal? if it's not, would anybody explain why this would happen? Thanks guys.

Re: Solus Proto
Doesn't look like your silicone conformed properly against the RP print.
What silicone are you using? How did you cure your model? Do you put any release agent on the model before the silicone?
Hopefully someone with more experience molding Proto can give you some tips.
This could be better served by using a direct castable resin to make your master and then go to the final mold?

Re: Solus Proto
I had a colleague make an RTV mould and urethane cast from one of my Proto models as a trial and it turned out perfect.
I'm not sure of the details, but I guess it proves that your distortion is not normal - or at least avoidable.

Re: Solus Proto
have you tried just making your rubber mold using your proto resin model , I think it will handle the heat

They use the "KREO Blu 45 sh/A" 2 part silicone mix and I use the Envisiontec UV curing platform. No release agent.

We just use Castaldo no shrink pink and a vulcanizer. Works just fine.
