Trouble casting Resin models, results....

Postby wawatobi » Thu Feb 16, 2017 1:35 pm

These are the castings I made last night. The resin was emerald. I didn't want to go all the way to 1400 f or 1450 f on my first try. There are some extremely tiny pits but these disappear with light sanding. I will try a half hour longer on the hold and go up to 1400 f on the next run but really there is no need for improvement. I'm using plasticast and a vacuum mixer I bought from Stuller. After vacuum mixing when you pour your flask and vacuum it, the investment shows only a few small bubbles. It does not rise in the flask like it does when you don't vacuum mix. Cheers!

I think if you go a little higher in temp and hold a little longer you will be fine. Mark

I will try higher temp as well as 30 minute longer hold. I really like the 6 hour burnout. Thank you for sharing this procedure. It will help a lot of people.
